Resurrection is just a death away!
There is nothing more painful than watching the death process. I do not care if it is spiritual or natural, the hopelessness you feel in that moment is devastating. You would do anything in your power to change the situation. In fact, if you are like me, you did everything you could to keep it alive. And sometimes the spiritual deaths are harder because you know they were a gift from the Lord.
Yet, somethings what comes from this death process is something greater! As I write to you, the Lord reminded me of this passage:
1 Peter 1: 3-6
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-- kept in heaven for you,
5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
7 These have come so that your faith-- of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-- may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
This is the whole point of the death process! It is not about the loss that we experience, but what will come out of it. It is about, refocusing our spiritual eyes on what is important so that we can be effective to what is important for now! There is no better time to ponder on these things than on Good Friday as we remember the crucifixion of Jesus.
When that which is old and past its time of life is removed, we can look around at what is left and see the real blessing that has been there all along.
So, if the Lord is calling something to death, know it is for your own good. There is a reason and once through the grieving, you will rejoice in the resurrection that comes.
So, grieve and go through the letting go period and then, walk into the resurrection power… it is waiting for you on the other side of the grave…be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
