The Prophet "Fun Hat" Challenge
Intense. So perhaps I have been called worse. However, that pretty much sums up the raging prophet that entered the world of full-time ministry. I was a hard hitter, not afraid to “say it like it is” and I did not care too much who agreed. One has to admire my passion. I know that I sure felt I was entitled to it. A tad arrogant perhaps? Just a little…
I’m not gonna lie guys, when I look at my early ministry days, I cringe for the poor leaders who had to work with me and my family that had to live with me! Perhaps that’s why I have so much grace for the prophets we train in our prophetic school. (Not that I let them get away with it mind you!)
That prophetic fire is just something that never dies. It has been a long journey since May of 1998 when my ministry journey first began. One could say… I have since been tempered! There is nothing quite like becoming an apostolic leader to teach you a few things about being a follower.
My first leadership lesson?
I WAS A TERRIBLE FOLLOWER!
Always had an opinion. Every decision was “black and white” with no shades of grey. Ah yes… when these days come to mind, I say a silent prayer for those I inadvertently ran over on my way towards impressing my Heavenly Father.
As time went on, I discovered that I impressed my Father with my obedience, faith and love. Turns out, that I did not need to shove my agenda at someone for the Lord to be pleased with me. In fact, I have since learned that a sense of humor and some personality go a long way in getting God’s message across.
Oh, that firey prophet is still in there guys. Just give her half a chance and she will gush that passion all over you! I would like to think though, that I do it with a bit more style these days. Come now… age has got to count for something right?! I imagine that I have matured like good wine. Nice and proper and all that jazz. (Then… reality strikes. I just dressed up the fire, but it sure has not been tempered as much as I would like to think!)
ALL YOU PROPHETS OUT THERE - your fire is gorgeous! LOVE IT! Thing is… it just needs some personality. People… well… need to like you. So yes, realize that it’s healthy to laugh at yourself. It’s healthy to realize that we can get a bit carried away sometimes! It’s healthy to take time to invest in relationships that are not linked to your platform!
Your challenge: Its time to put on your FUN HAT! Now I know it is inside of you! Yes, I know you have taken some hard knocks in life. I know that you are often rejected. I know that you have faced more pain than you could bare at times. However, under it all, is a crazy cat trying to get out! So use this time of year as a perfect opportunity to ENJOY this life that the Lord has given to you.
Your calling might give you purpose, but these relationships we have and this life we live fuels that purpose.
So what do you say? Got time to put on your fun hat this season? Dig it out of the closet! Pick one up at Walmart and above all, let’s be challenged to not take ourselves so seriously. Whether you fail or succeed, your Heavenly Father still loves and adores you. You are precious in His sight and you know, He doesn’t just want to be with you when you are intense. He wants to hang out with you during your fun times too!
So the challenge is on! I wanna see those fun hats…. here are a few of mine. See if you can outdo me!!
Love you tons!
