God’s Love Don’t Pay My Bills
When I got saved, I felt God totally accept me. I never felt SO LOVED in my life.
Although I was adored and valued, my bank account didn’t feel any of it. But, I didn’t want to be ungrateful for all He’d done for me. So I learned Christian etiquette,
“I’m too blessed to be stressed.”
“God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good.”
Then I went into full-time ministry. You learn how to live by faith fast or you drown. I drowned many times before I got it right.
The first thing I had to do was face my reality:
I’m blessed but STILL stressed
My Father is faithful, and so are debt collectors
I’m loved and adored, but still broke
Being a minister doesn’t excuse me from the need for financial knowledge (both spiritual and natural)
In the world, I clocked in and out and at the end of the week, I received my paycheck. In the Kingdom, I had to learn Kingdom currency. It’s a system that has its own rules.
Here’s What Didn’t Work:
“If I just minister harder and to more people, God will provide all my needs.”
Truth: You can’t twist God’s arms with your good deeds. You have to make a plan in the natural, as you do in the spirit.
“If I tithe faithfully, God will bless me.”
Truth: Unless you give the Kingdom way, your giving will always be a risk. Become a Kingdom giver (Click here to learn how) and your giving becomes investments. With big returns.
Hiding in shame and making plans in the flesh.
Truth: Until you bring your debts into the light, you won’t get the healing you need. You cannot overcome your fears, poverty mentality, or your shame, in the dark.
Here’s What Worked:
Step 01: Change your mind. Get into the right crowd.
“Leave them; they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”
Matthew 15: 14,15
Renewing your mind is not all up to you! Get into the right crowd. Surround yourself with those who are free and rich in their financial mindset and they will rub off on you. The process is even faster if you allow your mindset to be challenged. Think with possibility. Have faith for the impossible. Give without fear of lack.
Your friends shape you. What kind of guides do you have today?
Step 02: Warfare is necessary
You don’t have to be a prayer warrior, but you do have to be sick of lack.
Take a stand when you know what your inheritance is in the Lord. Lack is not part of your contract.
Then, deal with generational curses.
FACT: You are not a victim of a generational curse. They are established in you, when you continue the habitual sins committed by your ancestors. Identify the habitual sin and do not repeat.
Take a stand. Don’t give up! Fight for the kind of life you want to have.
Step 03: Stick to Your Contract
People want to hear, “God’s going to do it for you,” but they don’t want to read the fine print, “… if you do what I say and in my way… says the Lord.”
In our ministry, those who are on staff, are written a contract. Every one of the staff has a different contract. IF they do what they’re signed contract says, they get a pay check.
God has unique contracts with all His servants. Your obedience will not look like your sisters or your brothers - that’s why you cannot compare your walk to theirs. You have your obedience and they have theirs. Whoever obliges, gets paid.
Yet, here is a good point to know: Your obedience is not a performance for God’s sake. Obedience is for your protection.
