Bring Back the “Normal” to Prophetic Ministry

In the list of the fivefold ministry in Ephesians 4:11 and 1 Corinthians 12:28, apostle and prophet are listed as first in line by leadership position. However, can we be a bit real about what we are seeing in the prophetic movement?

Are you Leadership Material?

Take a some of the prophets you see on YouTube or Facebook and tell me if you think this looks like someone who should be leading the church?

Do they even look like someone who have a sane mind? Someone that you want to model yourself after?

I like to think that I can get away with saying this because I became a prophet long before I ever qualified as an apostle!

We have gotten so carried away with the externals, going out and showing people what we are capable of, that we have forgotten our position in the body of Christ.

We have forgotten the power, authority, and leadership that Christ has placed on our shoulders.

Today, I am calling you to accountability. The shaking, inappropriate dancing, tremoring, and violent spasms behind the pulpit have got to stop.

I cannot imagine that Miriam jerked her head off as she was going up the mountain, singing praises, with people following her. (Exodus 15:20)

It is about time that we take this calling seriously and do what God has sent us to this earth to do. While we are busy quivering, shaking, and having a “glory hallelujah” whilst putting on a show, we are forgetting that we have been called to birth the will of God into this earth.

The Prophetic Heart

Now the reason why we see all of this “over the top” expression is because we feel so deeply! Prophets feel very deeply and so they should. However, it is how you express that emotion that needs to find some balance.

We need to start taking the power of emotion and using it to birth things into this earth. Then, we will see change.

Unfortunately though, this “over-emotion” serves to separate churches and not bring them together. Prophetic ministry has become a showboat that many in the church are looking at and saying, “I don’t want to touch that with a ten-foot barge pole.”

Yet, God is bringing the prophetic move to all denominations. Unfortunately, because pastors and leaders are looking at these prophets saying, “That is not a leader that I want in my church. That is not a leader that I want to follow” it is killing what God is trying to do in His church.

It is time that we come in line.

It is time to become accountable, to look, talk, and act like a leader. It is time to be responsible.

No more going into a church and leaving a mess behind for everyone else to clean up. Clean up your own mess!

Let’s bring real change to the church. I hunger for change. When I am done ministering, I want to see God move and lives transformed.

The Prophet Behind the Title

Many love their titles. We cling to them because they give us some type of affirmation. Why can you not go in and do the real job of a prophet and have them never know.

What do you really want, prophets? Accolades or to bring real change?

You are reading this because you are sick of the show, the pendulum swinging, and the fluff. You want to feel that when your job is done, you have birthed something for the next generation. When all is said and done, you want it to be said of you that you left behind a work that remains!

It is one thing to qualify as a prophet and slap on a title. It is another to have the courage to meet God’s people on their terms! Now I want to get back to what I said about prophets feeling deeply.

I need you to understand something. Keep that emotion! That crazy prophet behind the title is who God chose. The fire. The passion. That wild and crazy prophet who goes where angels fear to tread! Your fire is beautiful, but the way you express it needs to change according to where God sends you.

I share often how the Lord might take you to churches that do not believe in the prophetic? Well they are not quite ready for the “fully unleashed” version of you! Give them what they can handle! What is more important is that you bring change, prophet.

Think of it This Way…

You can keep forcing people to just “accept you the way that you are” and continue to be left behind. You can continue to do the “wild and crazy” and fail to be promoted to leadership under your apostle or pastor. Or… you could realize that the way you express that fire needs to change according to where God places you!

People have to like you, prophet! Tough, considering that for a large part of your preparation and training, you were the odd man out. Times have changed though. You are in office. God has delegated his authority to you. Time to stand in that authority and bring real change.
