The 4 Signs You Are Ready To Leave The Wilderness
God calls you into full-time ministry, when you least expect it.
Just when you get used to the wilderness and sand between your toes, doors open.
Thirteen years ago, I was content to be a full-time nanny to the cutest eight-month-old boy.
I spent hours with the Lord. I made enough to pay my bills, and I led a quiet life. Before that, it was not so.
I was the Youth Pastor, Intercessory Prayer Leader, and House Prophet. And I loved it all! But God had different plans for me, so off I went into the wilderness. Ministry opportunities died. God severed key relationships until there was nothing, but sand between my toes. I kicked and screamed all the way to the desert.
Yet, after a while, I grew accustomed to the quiet.
It was nice - just me, the Lord, and Mr. Chubby Cheeks. Nobody to need me. No where to be. No event to plan. I could stay here forever.
I imagine that’s what Moses felt when he saw the burning bush and received his commission,
“Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:10
If this moment were a meme, it would be of Moses with the tagline, “Say, what now?”
That was me when Apostles Craig and Colette invited me on board to full-time ministry. Two weeks later I kissed Mr. Chubby Cheeks goodbye and moved across the country.
Goodbye sand dunes. Bye-bye quiet.
When God commissions you for full-time ministry, you don’t have to bash down doors.
Here are 4 signs you’ve qualified for full-time ministry:
#1 Ministry Opportunities Present Themselves
“I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.” - Revelation 3:8
God arranges circumstances and relationships, in your favor.
He connects you to key people. Whereas before, you positioned yourself, now God positions you. Ministry opportunities knock on your door.
He plucks you from where you are and puts you in new circumstances.
#2 God’s Vision is Much Bigger Than Yours
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” - 1 Corinthians 2:9
God sends you into the wilderness because your pictures of ministry must die.
When you’ve died to your desires, you become content in the Lord. It’s when you least pursue it, that doors open. When it does, you won’t do what you did before.
Your vision resurrects bigger and with more power!
#3 You’re Introduced to God’s People
"And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” - Matthew 3:17
God proves you to His people.
You’re ordained into a ministry office in front of witnesses, and in the Throne Room. Up until now, you’ve trained for your assignment. You went through the fire.
But commissioned means you’ve qualified for your call and you receive power to complete it.
#4 You Walk in Fear and Trembling
“When a vision is resurrected, none of the grandeur is left. There’s only responsibility.” - Apostle Colette Toach
When Moses was first pregnant with vision, he was zealous and full of ideas on how it would come to pass. He took matters into his own hands. Yet, when he qualified, he was a different man,
“But Moses protested to God, ‘Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” - Exodus 3:11
When you feel weak and dependent on God, that’s when you’ve qualified.
This time, you have something you didn’t have before: authority. To be commissioned is to receive a permit to build God’s Kingdom. Before, you built with no edict from God. Now you have the power to establish on earth, what is in heaven.
Demons flee and circumstances submit to you, because of the edict in your hands. You’ve been commissioned. NOW is the time to step out.
Where are you in your process? Do you see sand all around you or have you been commissioned? Apostle Colette Toach’s new book, Called, Commissioned, and Mandated, leads you into your future.
